This Mallayer antique rug, 11' 8" x 18' 11", carries an allover floral field that has been gently dissolved by age into a layered wash of teal, brown, and ivory. The repeating motifs remain legible, while the border and guard bands frame the composition with a quieter floral cadence. High distress has softened the contrast throughout, creating a surface with visible fading, wear, and tonal variation. Circa 1905 - 1920, it reads with the restrained elegance and lived-in depth that define a well-aged Mallayer. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
