This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 4" x 13' 5" and carries a long, time-softened presence through its narrow format and disciplined geometric structure. The field reads in layered neutrals, brown, cream, and white, with muted blue notes surfacing through the abrasion. A repeating medallion lattice runs the length of the composition, framed by slim borders that retain traces of their original rhythm. Medium distress has blurred the drawing into a quieter, more atmospheric surface, while the fringe and edges add to its lived-in character. Circa 1900 - 1915. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
