This Mallayer antique rug measures 12' 1" x 20' 6" and presents a gently dissolved allover floral field within a restrained border. The palette settles into neutral grey, faded blue, ivory, muted rust, and charcoal, with layered wear that softens the drawing and lends the surface a quiet, lived-in depth. Areas of abrasion and fading create a painterly, clouded effect across the field, while the edges retain an honest, timeworn presence. Circa 1880 - 1910, it carries the atmosphere of a rug shaped by use and light, with pattern still visible beneath the patina.
