This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 2" x 11' 4" and shows a long, restrained composition softened by time. The central field is deeply worn, allowing the underlying structure and layered pattern to read as a quiet, textural surface rather than a sharp repeat. Faded red, brown, and neutral tones are balanced by muted olive and cream accents along the borders, which still hold their floral and geometric rhythm. Medium distress gives the piece a lived-in, tactile presence. Circa 1920 - 1940, it carries the honest patina and elongated proportion that define its character.
