This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 3" x 11' 7" and presents a long, narrow composition with an allover field of floral and geometric motifs set against a deep navy ground. Coral red, cream, pale blue, and muted white outline the layered border system and soften the interior patterning. The surface shows low distress, with age-related wear and fading that lend the design a naturally softened character. Circa 1900 - 1920, it carries the balance and density typical of the Mallayer tradition, while its elongated format gives the drawing a measured, rhythmic presence.
