This Mallayer antique rug measures 3' 3" x 16' 6" and presents a long, narrow composition softened by age. An allover geometric field of medallion-like motifs is framed by a restrained border with angular floral detail, while the neutral, white, cream, and brown palette has mellowed into a quiet, timeworn surface. High distress is visible throughout, with extensive fading and a worn, textural hand that gives the design a ghosted rhythm. Circa 1900 - 1940, it carries the layered patina and subtle imbalance that make an antique rug feel deeply lived with.
