This Mallayer antique rug measures 7' 9" x 15' 10" and reads with an especially faded, time-softened surface. The composition keeps its layered border structure and all-over medallion field, though the pattern now emerges in quiet flashes of brown, cream, and muted neutral tones. High distress gives the piece a worn, atmospheric character, with broad areas of abrasion and gentle irregularity throughout. Circa 1895 - 1910, it carries the restrained dignity of age rather than sharp ornament, allowing texture and patina to define the visual field.
