This Sultanabad reads like a softened painting across a generous 10' 5" x 14' 4". Woven in wool, the composition pairs broad floral palmettes and scrolling vines on a warm red ground, tempered by cream and neutral highlights and a darker floral border. Time has left a chalky patina; surface abrash and medium distress have flattened and luminousised the pile so motifs read as layered impressions. The scale is monumentally graphic yet quietly worn, a tactile antique rug with painterly colour shifts and intact decorative intent. Circa 1885 - 1925
