Aubusson. A soft-grounded wool Aubusson defined by a pale neutral field, rose and pink accents and a deep faded red guard border. Painterly bouquets and a central basket motif settle into a luminous, low-contrast ground; brushlike tonal shifts and faded highlights give the surface a worn, heirloom patina. The wool pile reads soft and satiny, with medium distress that reveals subtle abrash and threadbare passages along the central plane. This antique rug preserves the refined, atelier-like drawing of French woven design while allowing timeworn nuance to register in its color and texture. Circa 1890 - 1910. Measures 4' 4" x 8' 10".
