A Mahal Ziegler in wool, this antique rug measures 8' 0" x 11' 0" and reads as quietly elegant. The muted olive field provides a restrained backdrop for a bold red central medallion and smaller pendants; deep red corner spandrels and a floral arabesque border introduce gold and muted blue highlights. Low, even wear and subtle abrash preserve a soft pile sheen and reveal the rug’s hand and age without heavy loss. The composition balances formal medallion geometry with a relaxed, timeworn surface that feels tactile and considered. Circa 1890 - 1920.
