A long, quietly elegant Kerman in wool, presented in a warm neutral and gold range. Measuring 11' 6" x 24' 6", the field reads as an allover floral and vine arabesque with a faint central medallion and a scalloped cartouche border. Time and use have softened the drawing; abrash and medium wear create a layered, tactile patina that reveals the hand of the weaver beneath the muted tones. The wool pile is worn low and supple, giving the piece an archival, lived-in presence appropriate to an antique rug. Circa 1895 - 1910.
