A generous Khotan defined by three soft-cornered medallions running the length of a warm red field, punctuated by small floral and geometric motifs. The multiple narrow guard borders frame the centre with finely scaled repeat motifs in cream and pink, the palette softened by age. The wool shows a tactile, low-distress surface and subtle abrash that lends depth to the colour. This antique rug reads as an elegant, quietly worn piece with an open, rhythmic composition and considered symmetry. Circa 1880 - 1900. Measurements: 9' 3" x 17' 2". The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
