A quietly refined Ghom in wool, this antique rug measures 9' 10" x 13' 6" and carries a soft, muted presence. A deep central medallion opens into an allover field of scrolling floral vines, palmettes and delicate arabesques rendered in navy, pale blue and warm browns on a cream ground. Layered borders frame the design while medium distress and areas of abrash lend a mellow, tactile patina. The palette has settled with time, giving the motifs a serene, paper-aged quality that speaks to craft and age. Circa 1900 - 1930.
