A careful Bakhtiari in wool, this 4' 10" x 7' 0" antique rug reads as a study in restrained geometry and quiet colour. A tight grid of panels holds stylised palmettes, leaf forms and small rosettes, each cell articulated by a narrow dark outline and layered guard borders. The palette is soft, cream and warm brown on a neutral ground, given depth by gentle age and a low level of wear. The surface retains a subtle, tactile patina that underscores its handworked character. Circa 1900 - 1920. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
