A large Kerman rendered in a soft neutral palette, this antique rug measures 10' 2" x 18' 3". The panelled composition reads as a series of cartouches and vertical stripes, layered with scrolling vines, palmettes and delicate floral sprays. High distress has subtly erased edges and softened the field, creating a luminous, almost washed surface where cream and white grounds meet subtle abrash. The wool pile retains a tactile, low-profile nap; the borders remain legible though softened by age. The effect is one of restrained grandeur and archival tactility. Circa 1920 - 1935
