This Khotan is a study in restraint, its wool field washed down to soft creams and neutral tones with pale blue-green accents. The central medallion and palmette vocabulary survive as faint impressions, the floral border reduced to a whisper by heavy wear. Surface abrasion, patched passages and thin pile reveal a layered history that reads as tactile patina rather than damage. The overall effect is architectural and quiet, a long-worn textile that retains compositional calm. Circa 1880 - 1910. Measurements: 8' 10" x 17' 0". An antique rug of subdued presence and measured materiality.
