A generous Bakhshaish in wool, 10' 6" x 14' 3", this antique rug centers on a stepped rust medallion softened by a slate-blue cartouche and warm brown and gold field tones. The handworn surface displays low distress and subtle abrash, a restrained patina that lets the articulated palmette border and angular motifs remain legible. The pile retains a soft, tactile nap that emphasizes the rug's layered earth palette and measured geometry. It reads as a considered provincial composition, honest in wear and rich in material presence. Circa 1890 - 1910.
