A Khotan of serene restraint, this antique rug measures 6' 11" x 13' 0" and presents a soft neutral field punctuated by a vertical register of round medallions and dispersed geometric guls. Woven in wool, the palette reads warm red, soft pink and muted gold against a bleached-beige ground. The surface is low in distress with even abrash and a gentle, tactile patina that preserves detail. Narrow, repeating guard borders frame the field and the stepped corners add disciplined geometry. Circa 1890 - 1910. The piece carries a hushed material presence, foregrounding pattern, hand and time.
