This Khotan antique rug, 7' 1" x 13' 8", presents a long, balanced field softened by age and washed in pink, neutral, and red tones. The composition is quietly lyrical, with birds and floral forms floating across an ivory centre, then repeating in looser rhythm through the surrounding field. A narrow geometric border adds structure without interrupting the delicacy of the drawing. Medium distress, fading, and mellow wear give the wool a supple, lived-in character. Circa 1920 - 1940, it carries the restrained ornament and faded warmth that define many sought-after Khotan rugs.
