This Khotan antique rug, measuring 4' 6" x 10' 5", presents a striking medallion-and-panel layout in faded indigo, terracotta, and warm neutral tones. Floral rosettes, stepped geometry, and framed cartouches move across the field with an easy rhythm, while the border layers in small-scale ornament and meandering detail. The wool pile shows low distress and a softened surface that lends the design a quiet, timeworn depth. Circa 1900 - 1915, it carries the balanced colour contrast and decorative clarity that make Khotan weaving so distinctive. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
