This Khotan antique rug, 7' 0" x 12' 2", carries a hushed, time-softened presence in wool. A washed red field is layered with pale medallion forms, floral tracery, and a restrained border in neutral beige, cream, and white. The pattern has worn to a painterly blur, letting the surface read as both graphic and atmospheric. Medium distress adds character without losing the structure of the design, and the composition retains a quiet balance from end to end. Circa 1900 - 1915. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
