This Khotan antique rug, 5' 2" x 8' 4", is rendered in a restrained field of cream, beige, and brown with muted grey shadowing throughout. The composition is anchored by a large stepped diamond medallion and layered border bands that carry small floral and geometric motifs with a quiet, time-softened presence. Circa 1880 - 1895, the rug shows high distress, with broad fading, visible abrasions, and a patched lower corner that adds to its collected character. Its worn surface and faded palette create a hushed, tactile reading of age and use.
