This Bakhtiari antique rug measures 10' 9" x 16' 6" and presents a richly layered field of floral rosettes, boteh-like forms, and scrolling ornament in deep brown, rust, blush, ivory, and muted teal. The border system is equally detailed, with framed floral bands that hold the composition in balance. Wool gives the surface a soft, tactile depth, while the low distress level preserves much of the drawing and colour harmony. Circa 1900 - 1915, it carries the grounded elegance and decorative density associated with Bakhtiari weaving, expressed here at a generous scale.
