This Hamadan antique rug, measuring 4' 2" x 6' 9", carries a time-softened balance of cream, blue, white, and earthy brown. The composition is anchored by a serrated central medallion and surrounded by small-scale floral and boteh motifs, with stepped border elements that give the surface a measured rhythm. Areas of wear and fading flatten some of the detail, allowing the darker grounds to feel atmospheric rather than heavy. Circa 1920 - 1940, it reflects the grounded character and visual density associated with Hamadan weaving, while the wool pile shows a lived-in, tactile finish.
