A Sultanabad in wool, this antique rug reads as an exercise in calibrated restraint: a broad neutral field set with repeating palmettes and rosettes in brown and gold, arranged in a disciplined lattice. A floral meander border contains the field, its motifs softened by low, even wear and a warm, aged patina. The surface retains tactile pile and subtle texture, the palette calm and architectural. Low distress preserves motif edges while lending a quiet softness to the overall effect. Circa 1880 - 1895. Measurements: 8' 9" x 11' 2".
