An Amritsa wool antique rug measuring 12' 2" x 15' 5". The composition centers on an arched medallion with a repeating lattice of diamonds set inside a scalloped cartouche; corner spandrels and a broad floral vine border frame the field. The palette is restrained , cream and warm tan warmed by muted red accents and a soft grey wash. Surface wear is evident, with even abrash and a medium degree of distress that lends a tactile, timeworn patina to the wool. Circa 1950 - 1970. The piece reads as a quietly refined study in colour and aged craft.
