This Sultanabad is a quietly grand antique rug woven in wool, its 10' 8" x 13' 10" field defined by a repeating floral lattice in warm red and cream. The composition reads as an allover rug of palmettes and linked blooms, framed by a restrained floral main border and narrow guards. Low distress and an even mellowing of color allow the pattern to breathe; small areas show warmer pile tones that animate the surface. The result is tactile, heritage-rich, and quietly refined. Circa 1885 - 1905. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
