A Gharabah in wool, measuring 3' 9" x 10' 10", this antique rug reads as a study in restrained geometry and tactile age. A deep indigo field hosts a repeating lattice of stylized rosettes, punctuated by an elongated diamond medallion and framed by a narrow running border. The palette of cream, beige and soft blush is warmed by muted teal and rust highlights. Low distress and subtle abrash preserve a velvety handle and the clarity of the design, evoking long familiarity rather than ruin. Circa 1850 - 1870. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
