This Gharabah antique rug measures 6' 4" x 19' 4", with a long, narrow format and a deeply saturated field that reads almost black beneath layers of floral and geometric ornament. An ivory border, edged in blue, frames the composition with repeating rosettes, angular vines, and small medallion forms. The wool surface shows soft age-related wear and tonal variation that lends depth without diminishing clarity. Circa 1880 - 1910, it carries a grounded, collected presence, balancing graphic contrast with restrained colour and a time-softened finish. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
