Sultanabad / 10721

An unusually restrained Sultanabad in a soft, neutral colorway of cream, ivory and pale gold, accented by faded blue and rose. The wide field is punctuated with sparse palmettes and small floral sprays that read against a mellow ground, framed by narrow guard borders with a simplified vine repeat. Wool pile has settled to a soft, tactile surface with medium wear and subtle abrash that evens the palette and softens edges. This antique rug retains its motifs while conveying a quiet, timeworn presence. Circa 1880 - 1900. Measures 10' 6" x 18' 6".
