A soft-wool Sivas with a carved-oval ivory medallion set into a warm red field, this piece balances ornate floral vinework with restrained, neutral borders. The cream centre medallion is punctuated by delicate palmettes and looping arabesques that read like an embroidered ground against the red. Low distress preserves a supple pile and a quiet patina, revealing careful age rather than heavy repair. The scale is generous at 9' 10" x 14' 6" and the tactile surface keeps the pattern vivid while the colours have mellowed to a harmonious, lived-in warmth. Circa 1885 - 1905.
