A Farahan Sarouk in wool, 8' 5" x 12' 0", rendered with a bold medallion and an allover vine of palmettes and serrated leaves. The saturated red field is warmed by gold and neutral highlights while navy and pale blue ground the floral vocabulary. Surface wear is minimal; a soft, even pile and restrained abrash give the piece a lived, tactile presence. The layered border bands articulate the composition with repeating rosettes and cartouches. This antique rug bears the hallmarks of early 20th century Persian workshop practice and a composed, architectonic sensibility. Circa 1900 - 1920
