A finely detailed Esfahan in wool, this antique rug measures 10' 6" x 13' 0" and presents a classical central medallion set against a refined cream ground. Layers of scrolling vine, palmette and floral motifs articulate a neutral, measured palette; the weaver's discipline appears in the crisp outlines and dense motif work. Low distress keeps surface texture and definition, while subtle abrash gives the field a gentle, lived-in depth. Circa 1890 - 1910.
