An Esfahan in soft neutrals, this antique rug measures 3' 6" x 5' 5" and reads as a careful study of classical medallion composition. A radiating central star anchors a field of delicate floral arabesques, the palette warmed by gold and cream with white highlights and subtle neutral abrash. Medium distress has softened the dyes and lent the wool a gentle, lived-in sheen while the repeating floral cartouche border frames the centre with quiet rhythm. Circa 1950 - 1965. The overall presence is tactile and composed, where pattern and age move in quiet balance.
