An intimate Shiraz in a compact format, this wool antique rug is defined by a linked hexagonal medallion sequence set against a warm red field. Ivory and neutral reserves trace angular lozenges and create rhythmic negative space while small geometric fillers and stepped motifs populate the interior. The palette reads primarily red, neutral and brown with subtle tonal shifts from natural dyes. Low overall wear preserves a tactile pile and crisp guard borders. Multiple narrow guard bands frame the field with alternating geometric motifs, lending a structured, hand-wrought character; fringe remains intact. Circa 1900 - 1915. 4' 0" x 5' 9".
