This Shiraz antique rug measures 7' 1" x 13' 4" and carries the grounded character of a long, narrowed format. A sequence of floral medallions runs through the centre, set within a busy field of scrolling ornament and layered geometric detail. The border is richly worked, with repeated botanical forms that soften into the brown, neutral, cream, and white palette. Medium distress gives the surface a worn, settled feel, with fading that blurs the pattern in a refined way. Circa 1900 - 1920, it reads as tactile, storied, and quietly architectural.
