Gharabah in wool, this antique rug reads like a painted medallion field dispersed into blossom. A warm red ground hosts large, abstracted flowers in pink, blue-grey and golden yellow, set within a narrow ochre guard and a dark floral vine border. The wool pile shows low distress and a soft, tactile surface with subtle abrash that adds depth to the colours. The composition feels both exuberant and composed, the borders tightening the field with rhythmic floral motifs. Circa 1900 - 1915. Dimensions 4' 6" x 8' 2" capture the rug’s linear, runner-like presence and measured scale.
