This Chinese Peking presents a quiet cream field anchored by a single floral medallion and softened corner spandrels, held within a deep blue outer border and narrow guards. Wool pile retains a subdued sheen and tactile nap, while medium wear and gentle abrash give the surface a lived-in, tactile quality. Colours read as navy and softer blues against warm neutrals and white, the composition restrained and measured. An antique rug with readable age and refined simplicity, the proportions are 4' 9" x 7' 6" and the overall presence is calm, material and craft-forward. Circa 1900 - 1915
