This Zaboul presents a compact, finely balanced composition on wool, its 3' 5" x 5' 1" scale emphasizing a rhythmic gul column set against an ivory ground. Deep red and purple tones frame the field through layered geometric borders and end cartouches; brown accents add warmth to the pattern. The hand is soft with low distress, the motifs disciplined and well preserved. The palette and disciplined gul repeat speak to traditional Turkoman language rendered with refined restraint. Circa 1900 - 1915. This antique rug reads as an object of craft, its subtle abrash and tactile pile holding quiet, lived-in presence.
