This Esfahan wool rug reads as a study in composure. A finely rendered central medallion radiates across a warm cream field, its geometry picked out in navy, soft blue and rust with an intricate network of floral arabesques. Layered ivory borders hold the composition, their vine work remaining crisp against the ground. Surface condition is low wear and the wool retains a soft, tactile hand; the scale of 8' 6" x 12' 8" reads generous and balanced. An antique rug that pairs classical drawing with restrained coloration and careful finishing. Circa 1945 - 1960.
