This Gharabah runner in wool presents a sober, tactile field of deep brown punctuated by ivory and warm gold motifs. An allover medallion-lattice of rosettes and palmettes travels the length, contained by narrow inner stripes and a repeating floral guard border. Surface patina and medium distress have muted the palette, exposing soft abrash and areas of low pile that read like time-worn highlights. The scale is elongated and assured, measuring 7' 0" x 18' 4" and carrying the quiet geometry of tradition. As an antique rug it feels both crafted and lived-in, a study in texture and restraint. Circa 1880 - 1900.
