A compact Sivas rendered in warm red, neutral and brown, this antique rug measures 4' 3" x 5' 10". Repeating octagonal guls align in vertical rows across a subtly abrash field, the geometry tempered by a low-distress surface and a soft, tactile wool hand. Narrow secondary motifs and stacked borders create a measured frame, their small-scale register adding rhythm without dominance. The overall impression is of sustained colour and deliberate restraint, a piece that reads as crafted and lived-in rather than heavily restored. Circa 1885 - 1910. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
