An expansive Sultanabad in wool, 12' 7" x 13' 6", its field composed of a dense all-over floral medley of palmettes and scrolling vine, framed by a broad red border punctuated with large gilt palmettes. The palette sits between rich red, burnished brown and warm gold with discreet blue and ivory accents that have mellowed with time. Low distress preserves pattern clarity while lending a soft, tactile patina. This antique rug reads as a quietly composed study in scale and surface, one that rewards close inspection and touch.
