An Esfahan antique rug in fine wool, its 8' 1" x 11' 4" proportion framed by a deep blue main border and cream-highlighted spandrels. The composition centers on an intricate medallion that unfolds into a dense floral vine, palmettes and delicate arabesques rendered in blue, white and neutral tones against a warm field. The surface shows low, even wear and subtle abrash that lends a softened patina to the weave without obscuring detail. Handworked in a restrained, classical idiom, the piece reads as a tactile study in colour modulation and draftsmanship. Circa 1925 - 1940.
