This Sultanabad antique rug, measuring 10' 7" x 14' 8", is composed with a grounded grey-green field and a richly layered floral vocabulary in red, terracotta, ivory, and soft gold. A central medallion anchors the design, while scrolling vines and nested borders create a sense of movement across the surface. The wool handle appears supple and time-softened, with low distress and a calm, even fade that adds depth rather than distraction. Circa 1880 - 1900, it carries the restrained grandeur associated with the Sultanabad tradition. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
