This Ghiordes antique rug, measuring 15' 10" x 20' 0", presents an allover floral field in softened mint green, red, cream, and white. The composition is enclosed by a richly layered border system, where scrolling arabesques and geometric bands frame the field with clarity and rhythm. Its medium distress shows in the muted colour transitions and worn surface, which lend the wool a dry, timeworn hand. Circa 1885 - 1915, it carries the balanced formality and ornament associated with the Ghiordes tradition, while remaining grounded by the calm, open expanse of the central ground.
