This Ghiordes antique rug measures 13' 0" x 15' 1", presenting a luminous field of ivory softened by pale blush, faded gold, taupe, and muted sage. The composition is finely worked, with small floral forms and boteh-like motifs dispersed across the centre and gathered within layered floral borders. Its surface shows a gracefully worn hand, with gentle fading that has softened the contrast and allowed the drawing to read as painterly rather than strict. Circa 1880 - 1900, it carries the quiet depth and timeworn elegance that define a well-aged Ghiordes.
