This Esfahan antique rug measures 3' 6" x 5' 3" and presents a finely composed figurative scene framed by floral and animal borders. A sky blue field sets off the musicians, trees, blossoms, and small landscape details, while black outer borders and cream guard borders hold the design in balance. Wool gives the surface a soft, grounded handle, with low distress and gentle fringe wear that read as part of its character.
