This Shirvan antique rug measures 4' 3" x 8' 1" and carries a layered, tribal geometry that feels both restrained and intricate. Three octagonal medallions anchor the field, while stepped borders, angular compartments, and narrow guard bands build a strong architectural cadence around them. Wool lends the surface a dry, tactile handle, and the palette moves through ivory, camel, rust, muted navy, and faded terracotta with a softened, timeworn glow. Circa 1850 - 1870, it shows medium wear that gently blurs the drawing without losing its depth or clarity. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
