This Bakshaish antique rug, measuring 12' 2" x 15' 6", is composed with an expansive allover field that feels both orderly and weathered. Floral medallions, scrolling vines, and a saturated border of blossoms and roundels sit over a faded ground of red, cream, and soft grey, with turquoise blue holding the perimeter in vivid contrast. The surface shows medium wear and graceful softening throughout, giving the pattern a layered, timeworn presence. Circa 1880 - 1900, it carries the restrained grandeur and textural depth associated with a well-aged Bakshaish. The softened surface retains a quiet, tactile character shaped by time.
